Abstract
DDoS attack not only affects the services of the target system but also affects the quality of service of an ISP by consuming the bandwidth of an ISP before actually targeting the target. Also, it is always better to detect and mitigate the DDoS attack as far as possible from the target, so in the ISP domain. Therefore, we are proposing a model which will detect the DDoS attack in the ISP domain, closer to the source of attack, using machine learning algorithm to counter new way of DDoS attack too (about which there was no information before) and then redirecting the suspicious traffic to honeypot for further evaluation of the traffic. Usually DDoS attack is meant for servers providing services, so the target is usually a server and here we are not focusing on normal client users to protect from DDoS attack.
