Abstract

Flexible DC grid is regarded as a promoter for the future power system. In other words, it provides a feasible approach to realizing large-scale access of renewable energy sources in energy integration, interconnection and storage technology. However, fault current limiting technology is an urgent barrier for the advancement of flexible DC grid. This paper classified faults in flexible DC grid mainly into two categories, and summarized various available fault current limiting technologies. What±s more, a comprehensive outlook for advanced flexible DC grid is set to promote developments in this field. Finally, some challenges and recommendations were also summarized.
