Abstract

The surgical treatment of breast cancer is increasingly performed as day surgery. Breast conserving surgery accounts for a large proportion of operations performed as breast cancers are detected earlier in the disease process due to the National Screening Programme and early patient awareness of signs of disease has increased. This study analyses how many operations for breast cancer performed at Charing Cross Hospital in a four month period were performed as day cases.
