Abstract

Dan Barfod la Cour was born in Copenhagen September 12, 1876, the son of Poul la Cour, Danish physicist, who was then Superintendent at the Danish Meteorological Institute and later became teacher with the title of Professor at the most prominent Danish Folk‐Highschool.In his earlier years la Cour did not attend school regularly but took private lessons. He then entered the University of Copenhagen, where in 1902 he took the degree of M.A. In 1939 he received the honorary degree of Doctor of Science from the George Washington University of Washington, D.C.
