Abstract

The use of Experimental Modal Analysis testing as a tool for Structural System Identification of model bridge superstructures is reported in this paper. Three 40% scale models of 5-span continuous flat slab bridges were tested using this technique, before and after application of high level static loading (approaching incipient collapse). Results obtained demonstrate the utility of the technique for identification of the in-service condition of bridge superstructures and for damage-detection applications in particular.
