Abstract

This article present four institutions that deal with technologies applied to cultural heritage in Florence: the Department of Chemistry at the University of Florence and the Interuniversity Consortium CSGI studying nanoscience, CNR’s Institute of Applied Physics carries out investigations of surfaces and applications of hyperspectral imaging systems operating in the THz region. We went to meet even the National Institute of Optics and high-resolution multispectral scanners. Finally we entered the heart of the conservation in Florence: in the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, being able to learn about the studies that there researchers are following. This study showed the enthusiasm with which the city of Florence is updated the tradition of conservation, born during the flood emergency in 1966.
