Abstract
Background and Aims: Diabetic patients have high incidence of cardiovascular disease, which is associated with increased volume and functional alterations of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT). We aimed to study the inflammatory and cytotoxic effects induced by EAT from diabetic patients on cardiomyocytes, and the counteracting effect of two cardioprotective molecules: HDL and apolipoprotein J (apoJ).
