Abstract
Abstract Crown gall tumour tissues of Vinca rosea L. release large quantities of cytokinins into the culture medium. Five weeks following subculture on cytokinin-free solid medium, ribosyl- trans -zeatin ( trans -ZR), its O -glucoside ( trans -ZROG) and zeatin-9-glucoside (Z9G) were the major cytokinins present in the culture medium. In addition, a number of other cytokinins were identified including dihydrozeatin (DHZ), dihydrozeatin riboside (DHZR) and the corresponding O -glucosides. The dihydro derivatives have not previously been reported as endogenous cytokinins from crown gall tumour tissues.
