Abstract

Meiotic irregularities, degree of aneuploidy and fertility were investigated in both primary and recombined strains of 8x Triticale. In bulk populations as well as in progenies of euploid plants, recombined strains showed a lower degree of aneuploidy than did the primary strains. The recombined strains also showed stabler meiosis and higher fertility than the primary strains. A close relationship was found between somatic chromosome number and fertility. Fertility is not correlated with cytological disturbances.
