Abstract

The co administration of clopidogrelbisulphate with Asprin is common to patents diagnoised with cardiac problems, as both these drugs inhibit the blood clots by thinning the blood. Invitro drug interaction of clopidogrelbisulphate and Asprin using cyclic voltammetry is described. The effect of variation of concentration of Asprin on electroxidation of clopidogrelbisulphate is studied by variation of scan rate and pH. With increase in sweep rate, the anodic peak current increases linearly with correlation coefficient 0.9819 indicating the electrooxidation process to be diffusion controlled. Spectrophotometrically, absorption maximum of Asprin was found to be 223nm and 275nm while that of Clopidogrelbisulphate was found to be 227nm. Invitro interactions were carried out in simulated intestinal juice and gastic juice with pH 1 and 9 respectively. It was found that absorption maximum of Asprin remained at 223nm while that of Clopidogrel shifted to 203nm, confirming the interaction. The results showed that, Asprin being a weak acid, depresses the availability of Clopidogrelbisulphate, as the hydrolysis of Clopidogrelbisulphate is favourable in basic media. The process is found to be irreversible and diffusion controlled
