Abstract
Sjogren syndrome (SS) is a systemic autoimmune disease that primarily affects the exocrine glands and presents characteristically with xerostomia and xerophthalmia. SS is classified as secondary when it occurs with another disease, most often rheumatoid arthritis or lupus erythematosus (LE), and as primary when there are no associated diseases.
