Abstract

The monitoring and fault detection of Photovoltaic (PV) systems are essential for improving their reliability and safety. The photovoltaic system’s nonlinear behavior makes fault detection difficult and requires a thorough comprehension of the behavior of the system. This research presents a new method for fault detection based on analysis of the string currents in PV system. The suggested method responds immediately to faults as they occur. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is capable of detecting ground, line-to-line (L-L), and open-circuit faults in PV systems.
