Abstract

A survey is given of the current status of instrumentation for biomagnetic multichannel systems. The emphasis is on the KRENIKON ® biomagnetic system, which has been developed in our laboratories in close cooperation with clinical partners, in order to meet the needs in a routine clinical application of biomagnetism. The characteristics of other biomagnetic instruments are given for comparison where appropriate. The instrumentation components referred to in this paper include the SQUID sensor circuit, magnetic flux transformers, and environmental electromagnetic noise shielding. To each of these topics, work in progress and some future trends are discussed.
