Abstract

This paper presents low power Current mode transmitter which will be suitable for wireless communication applications. Because of the advantages of Current Mode (CM) building blocks over Voltage Mode (VM) building blocks, the proposed current mode transmitter can operate at high frequency with low voltage. For this, a current-mode device is modeled and using this modeled device, the various circuit blocks of transmitter section in communication system are simulated using H-SPICE software. The proposed current mode transmitter using MOSFET based CFA can work at a very low voltage such as 1 V and consume less power, 2.2357 mW compare to VM and CM transmitter using commercial CFA AD844 which consumes power 291 mW and 123 mW, respectively. Such current mode transmitter will be beneficial from high data rate transmission point of view.
