Abstract

This paper presents a method to design a control system for grid connected photovoltaic inverter which has an LCL type filter to suppress the output current total harmonic distortion (THD). In this control system, three linear voltage and current controllers were used in a cascade configuration in order to reduce the complexity of the system. Those controllers regulate the current injected to the grid in a synchronous reference frame which transforms ac variables into dc quantities and thus possibility of applying simple PI regulators. Simulation results, using Matlab/simulink, presented for this strategy confirm the effectiveness of the control scheme in both transient and steady state operation.
