Abstract

The article presents the results of the analysis of the current state of study of the Aral Sea region by geological exploration works, and in more detail – of the Aral Sea aquatory. An attempt has been made to correlate new geological data based on the works of Uzbek geologists and materials of seismic surveys of the Kazakh part of the Aral Sea, since the West Aral oil and gas condensate field has been discovered in the Uzbek part of the Aral Sea water area, the productivity of which is associated with the Middle-Upper Jurassic deposits. Taking into account the history of geological development of the territory and formation of oil and gas bearing zones, it is necessary to carry out geological exploration works in the perspective of the unified model of the Aral Sea basin. On the basis of the discussed model of geological structure the prospects of oil and gas potential of separate structural-tectonic zones were predicted, and a series of recommendations were issued.
