Abstract

This survey, as announced in the previous issue of the Russian Review, completes the report on current bibliographic registration published within periodicals (see Russian Review 35 no. 3, pp. 323-325) by listing primarily Russian bibliographies of scholarly importance published as independent titles with at least one volume having appeared within the last five years. Soviet bibliographies and bibliographic institutions such as the Vsesoiuznaia Knizhnaia Palata and the Institut Nauchnoi Informatsii po Obshchestvennym Naukam, Moscow (INION), along with major public libraries and academies, have developed an extensive bibliographic network which provides access to national and regional publications. Since current bibliographic registration is conducted by institutions, it is well coordinated, with standards for unified bibliographic description and relatively consistent periodicity. Its scholarly importance, therefore, is evident.
