Abstract

This paper proposes Fault Detection, Isolation and Reconfiguration (FDIR) techniques to realize the connection of a DFIM pumped storage system with the grid in the presence of current and speed sensor failures. For the detection method authors use the parity space approach either for current sensor failure or the rotation speed one. The proposed reconfiguration techniques exploit stator flux estimation using existing stator current and voltage measurements. All studied system (DFIM pumped storage and grid) with proposed FDIR strategy is simulated using PSIM software. Next, simulations and experimental results are given to validate the synchronization phase in healthy conditions and to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed detection method to isolate the faulty sensor and to guarantee the satisfactory behavior of this system.
