Abstract

The curing reactions of an epoxy resin with a styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry at various scan rates (5, 10, 20 and 50°C/min) in a nitrogen atmosphere. The values of certain kinetic parameters, namely activation energy (E), pre-exponential factor (Z), rate constant (k) and half-life (T1/2) were evaluated for various mixtures of a commercial epoxy resin and a styrene maleic anhydride copolymer on the basis of the Ozawa as well as Kissinger methods, which were found to be in reasonably good agreement with each other.
