Abstract
This work contains three series of experiments under lab conditions (pilot programme) that were completed under a programme that concerns the waste water conducter of Thessaloniki. Sewage was taken from the small experimental station situated on the eastern side of the town which will be used as a pilot‐station in field experiments. This sewage was also employed in butch‐experiments after it had been mixed with seawater. The sewage‐seawater ratios were 40, 25, 15 and 0% respectively, while the plant material embedded was the Rhodophycos Gracilaria verrucosa, the Chlorophcos Enteromorpha linza and the Phaeophycos Punctaria latifolia. The culture vessels were placed in a chamber with a temperature of 22±2°C and light, whereas the light‐dark ratio was 16:8. Measurements yielded increased values of plant biomass. The experiment was repeated twice. Finally it was found that the wet and dry biomass increased continously till the experiment was completed, especially in solution of 40%.
