Abstract

This article examines individual stories related to the policy and practice of cultural exchange of the USSR with Western countries. The author presents data that allow us to understand the basic principles of cultural exchange, which the Soviet side adhered to when concluding interstate agreements on cultural cooperation, as well as contracts with specific commercial companies. As cases in the analysis of the main problems of the stated topic, facts (cases) recorded in archival documents of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR dating back to the 1970s were used.
