Abstract
This article discusses the relationship between map production and the spatial dimension of historical experience in the Modern Era. The article aims, therefore, to present a new interpretation of the maps’ ‘sertanistas’ and ‘bandeirantes’, their links with the production of geographical knowledge (at different levels) and their connections with the colonial spatialities. More than a specific study about a set of maps, the article seeks to reveal elements that characterize the relation between spatial representations and the conquest of space in a context marked by the coloniality and the continentality of the European conquests in America.
