Abstract

Cuba today is in a complex situation. On the national level, it is beset by a serious economic crisis, societal stresses, and dysfunctions in its political structures. On the ideological level there is stress and partial paralysis, and yet still much vitality. Finally, the domestic-international links that affect its political, economic, social, and ideological situation were already in transition when the world events of the last three years both accelerated and overtook them. The New World Order has confronted Cuba with its most difficult and complex challenges since the revolution.
