Abstract

The XPS spectra of Bi 2Sr 1.8La 0.2Cu 1− x Co x O y taken with Mg Kα revealed a new discovery in Cu 2p spectrum, which is very important to the calculation of the ratio of the satellite versus main line intensities ( I s/ I m) and the BE separation W. Bi 4s core level spectrum whose peak position is 942 eV coincides with the satellite peak of Cu 2p spectrum affects not only I s/ I m and W values, but also consequently calculated charge transfer energy ɛ and hybridization energy T that are crucial parameters in the electronic correlation mechanism in HTSCs.
