Abstract

It has been found that the polyester based on m-carborabedicarboxylic acid and hydroquinone is capable of forming crystalline structures. Crystallization of the polyester has been studied by electron diffraction, electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The conditions for the formation of crystalline and amorphous structures have been found; it has been shown that the polymer may be most effectively crystallized in the presence of a number of organic substances. The degree of crystallinity of specimens and the density of the polymer in various phase conditions have been determined and micro-electron diffraction patterns of single crystals have been obtained from which the parameters of the unit cell have been calculated.
