Abstract
Polycrystalline Zn2(1-x)Mn2xTiO4 with x = 0, 0.001, 0.01, and 0.05 was synthesized by a solid-state reaction. The influence of Mn2+ ion substitution on the structure, optical properties, and morphology of the host was investigated by X-ray diffraction, cathode luminescence (CL), absorption, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analyses. SEM images showed grain sizes ranging from 2 to 10 μm for all samples. The emissions of the x = 0 and x = 0.001 samples were observed using CL images. Concentration quenching was observed in CL measurements for a Mn2+ concentration of x = 0.01.
