Abstract

Microgravity environments such as those on the International Space Station (ISS) are ideal experimental sites for crystal growth. I focused on an interesting phenomenon discovered in an ice crystal growth experiment on ISS, a spontaneous oscillatory growth, and theoretically investigated the mechanism that could reproduce this phenomenon. In this paper, in addition to the introduction of the research results, the importance of the crystal growth research in microgravity environments will be discussed.
