Abstract

Studies of the mechanism and kinetics of electrolytic crystal growth are reviewed. Such studies enhance the understanding of electroplating as the properties of electrodeposits depend upon their crystal structure. The investigational techniques used are described, the types of crystals grown and their controlling factors outlined. The effect of addition agents in the plating bath on crystal structure is discussed.
