Abstract
Abstract A crystal of Nd 3+ :Sr 3 Gd(BO 3 ) 3 with dimension of ϕ 25 × 30 mm 3 was grown by the Czochralski method. The polarized absorption and emission spectra of Nd 3+ :Sr 3 Gd(BO 3 ) 3 crystal were measured at room temperature. The absorption cross sections σ a are 3.43 × 10 −20 cm 2 at 807 nm for π-polarization and 1.78 × 10 −20 cm 2 for σ-polarization, respectively. The emission cross sections σ em are 2.0 × 10 −19 cm 2 at 1063 nm for π-polarization and 1.12 × 10 −19 cm 2 for σ-polarization, respectively. Fluorescence lifetime τ f is 70 μs at room temperature.
