Abstract
Results of an experimental study on the growth of large and high-quality organic nonlinear optical crystals 2-(4-hydroxystyryl)-3-methylbenzothiazolium 4-methylbenzenesulfonate (OHB-T) crystals from saturated methanolic solutions at controlled cooling rates and their characterization by different techniques are reported. It is found that from solutions saturated at 45 °C large and high-quality crystals of dimensions 10 × 4 × 4 mm3 at 0.1 and 0.3 °C/day and optical transmittance of 75% can be obtained. Dielectric properties of crystalline samples at different frequencies, and second harmonic generation efficiency, photoluminescence behavior and thermal stability of the compound are also investigated.
