Abstract
Large Ca1-xSrxF2 single crystals with a maximum diameter of 6 in. were grown by the Czochralski (CZ) method using a conical die. Single crystals with strontium (Sr) concentration in the range of x = 0.2–0.7 were successfully grown with a small difference in concentration from the starting composition and a high degree of homogeneity. The compositional variation was minimal when x = 0.418. Further characterization confirmed that the single crystals have excellent optical properties that make them suitable for applications ranging from the vacuum ultraviolet to the infrared wavelength regions.
