Abstract

Abstract The anisotropy in the magnetization of La1−yPrySn3 single crystals has been measured for a doping y of 0.04 and 0.08 at 1.7 and 4 K in magnetic fields up to 2 T using a special SQUID magnetometer. The crystal field as derived before from inelastic neutron scattering quantitatively explains the anisotropy measured at 4 K. At lower temperature PrPr interactions become important.
