The discovery of amphotericin B5initiated the use of a promising antifungal antibiotic in clinical practice. Some recent reports of its use in cases of cryptococcus infections of the central nervous system have engendered guarded optimism,2, 10, 1, 4, 8but follow-up studies are still limited in time.
