Abstract

The design of a cryostat which allows simultaneous electron paramagnetic resonance studies and optical absorption measurements is given. Details of the microwave cavity, whose coupling can be adjusted from outside the cryostat, optical characteristics, and sample positioning mechanism are included. In addition, discussion of possible use of the cryostat for x irradiation or uv irradiation of samples at low temperature is given. Provisions for electron-nuclear double resonance measurements and temperature variation of the sample are also discussed.
