Abstract

Functional and structural properties of the arterial wall have been reported to be altered in hypertension. Morbidity and mortality related to hypertension are associated with arterial damage that may affect some organs. Arterial stiffness is a complex parameter. PWV measurement is widely used as an index of regional arterial stiffness, which method is simple and reproducible. Even in heart failure, PWV is increased. And PWV is a marker of cardiovascular disease, and a marker of treatment. Little is known about the relation between PWV and both CRP and BNP.
