Abstract

Crosstalk or coupling between two nonparallel transmission lines of finite length is studied by using a circuit concept. The phenomenon can be estimated by a similar way as the coupling of external electromagnetic fields to a transmission line. The external fields can be considered as distributed voltage and current sources expressed as vector potentials. From solutions of the transmission line equations, a four-port network expression can be derived. The crosstalk is analyzed by the four-port network in terms of the terminal voltages and currents. Experiments for some models were conducted; the measured results are in a good agreement with the theory.
