Abstract

SUMMARY Following a request from the European Commission, the Panel on Contaminants in the Food Chain was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on cross-contamination of non-target feedingstuffs by lasalocid authorised for use as a feed additive. Lasalocid sodium is a polyether carboxylic ionophore agent that is authorised according to Regulations No (EC) 2430/1999 and 1455/2004 as a coccidiostat for use in chickens for fattening, chickens reared for laying (up to 16 weeks of age) and turkeys (up to 12 weeks of age) with a maximum content of the active ingredient in feed of 125 mg/kg and a withdrawal period of 5 days.
