Abstract

Summary This review article presents the recent German critical introduction to the structure and formation of the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament Apocrypha. It situates this book within the context of the modern research on the Old Testament and evaluates the various theories for the tradition- and composition history of the individual writings in the Old Testament, which Rudolf Smend, Thomas Römer, Walter Dietrich, and Hans-Peter Mathys discuss in their work.
