Abstract
Diagnosis of cancer at an early stage of development is a problem of paramount importance. One of the diagnostic methods is based on the use of magnetic nanoparticles that create a magnetically active shell around the diseased tissue. Direct interaction of magnetic nanoparticles with the spins of neighbouring protons of biological fluid increases their dephasing, and at the same time the relaxation rate. The diagnostic method based on increasing the relaxation rate of water protons is called "magnetic-relaxation" switching. In this work, the criteria for observing "MR switching" for the minimum concentration of magnetic nanoparticles are obtained. Criteria for the product of the volume of diseased tissue and the characteristics of nanoparticles are also obtained.
