Abstract

In the paper, statistical data treatment and indicators of car performance based on the wheelset angle of attack and lateral displacement measurements are described. A statistical criterion of stability of measured parameters is presented. This criterion can be applied to any indicator, which is suggested to characterize the condition of the cars. Ten indicators of bogie and wheelset performance having physical meaning are suggested with the aim to detect “suspected” cars, in particular wheelsets which are causing excessive wheel flange wear. Prospects of usage of suggested indicators are discussed.
