Abstract

Extreme weather events are becoming increasingly common in the Polish climate, with recentmeteorological phenomena such as storms, tempests and heavy precipitation serving as clearexamples. These events can be attributed to climate change, which has made extreme weather morepersistent even in regions not historically prone to such conditions. This article focuses on thelogistics of emergency operations using flash flooding as an illustrative case. The article exploresthe essence and tasks of logistics in crisis situations, particularly when dealing with extremeweather-related crises. The primary objective of logistics in these situations is to save lives, ensurethe well-being of the affected population, and provide essential support to those in need. Thesuccess of logistical operations is contingent upon informed decision-making, which must accountfor various factors, including the nature of the crisis, its causes, the affected population, availableresources and IT systems with up-to-date databases. This article emphasizes the importance ofrobust logistics management in extreme weather events and crisis situations, underscoring theneed for comprehensive planning, preparedness, and resource allocation to ensure the safety andwell-being of the affected population.
