Abstract

The Flood Member of the Albian Blackleaf Formation is exposed in the eastern foothills of the Pioneer Mountains, southwestern Montana. Two localities were studied along a 10-mi north-south outcrop belt: Frying Pan Gulch (south) and Apex (north). Strata are 625 ft thick and composed of mixed siliciclastics and carbonates; they are grouped into coarse and fine-grained facies (CGF and FGF) sequences. The Flood Member is underlain conformably by the upper carbonate member of the Kootenai Formation.
