Abstract

The inducement of this work is to understand microstructural features, hardness, and hot impression creep behavior at a constant temperature of 150 °C. For impression creep test, load was varied from 3–12 kg and the dwell time was maintained for 3 h. Optical microscope and SEM were used to observe the microstructure. XRD was carried out for phase identification of the material. The effect of load on microstructure development, after the hot impression creep was studied. Plot was drawn between indentation depth and indentation time to obtain the creep rate. It was observed that the depth of impression increased with an increase in load. The creep rate remained constant in the secondary creep region. The SEM images in the deformed region showed the shear band morphology for all the loading conditions.
