Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the creative performance of 48 preschool children from middle and lower income homes. The Picture Construction, The Unusual Uses, and The Product Improvement Tests of the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (1966b, 1966c) were used for measuring performance. A significant sex difference (F= 5.32, p <.05) was noted in creative originality. The boys produced more original ideas than the girls. A social class difference (F= 4.00, p <.05) was found in favor of the middle class chil dren in creative fluency ability.
