Abstract
Among the many problems concerning defect creation, only two are considered in this work: (1) Thermal stresses and dislocations in melt-grown single crystals of semiconductors. (2) Multicomponent solid solutions and defect creation in heteroepitaxial structures. Emphasis is placed on the results obtained during the last years by the authors and their coworkers.
