Abstract
Surgical training has a long way to go to efficiently and repeatedly create master surgeons. While finding a master endocrine surgeon to resect endocrine malignancies is not easily accomplished throughout the world, there are advances in surgical training that may provide the USA with more experts to remove such cancers. Deliberate practice, feedback and drive lead to better surgical skill, and expert teams of caregivers using proven algorithms may indeed improve endocrine surgery outcomes. That is, if, and only if, surgeons have sufficient repetitions and experience. Do we have enough repetitions? Read on.
