Abstract

Summary In 1994-95, ISM (Information Systems Management) Corporation established a unit in Winnipeg, Canada to provide technical services to libraries. These services include receiving, cataloguing and physically processing a wide range of library materials to the customers' specifications. Contract negotiations, customer base, development of detailed specifications and quality control issues are discussed. Creation of the operation required recruitment and training of staff, establishment of premises, hardware and software acquisition and the development of highly automated operational procedures. Future trends are considered.
