Abstract

This paper describes the salient aspects discovered whilst generating an early Competence Management System (CMS). The approach used a spreadsheet to compare engineers against the programme competency requirements which was an effective method of highlighting team competency gaps.Key areas highlighted are the significance of a programme schedule, and the importance of detailed technical processes and procedures.The CMS was necessary to address safety and business risks and was shared with the customer to engender confidence in the company's ability to undertake the safely programme.
