Abstract
ABSTRACT: In the line of medieval grammars, Palsgrave unites morphological and lexicological analysis. But the effort of rationalisation leads him, in book 3 (written later than books 1 and 2), to a clear separation of grammatical analysis and lexical inventories, in order to confirm the coherence of the analyses. The evaluation of the texts published since fifty years will, moreover, supplement Palsgrave’s enterprise of presenting lexical sums, which can be considered as preliminary drafts of dictionaries, already very elaborate.
