Abstract

CR-39 carbonate plastic track dosimeter, etched electrochemically, is examined as a combined threshold and albedo neutron dosimeter. As a fast neutron dosimeter, it has a threshold energy of 0.1 MeV, with a sensitivity over the range from 0.1 MeV to 18 MeV of about 7 tracks/cm 2 mrem. As an albedo dosimeter, using a 6LiF radiator, the response is around 7 × 10 3 tracks/cm 2 mrem. The albedo sensitivity is sufficiently high that optical density measurements can be utilized to evaluate the dosimeter when used in moderated neutron fields.
